One Thing I Know for Sure

Each Sunday, I share the “things I know for sure” – which is a mix of thoughts and ideas I’m currently focused on, working on, or meditating on. Or something I’ve only just discovered for myself.

One Thing I Know for Sure…

  1. Experiences matter more. Experiences matter more than possessions and devices, chores and die hard routine, getting the perfect picture and sticking to the schedule. Lean into the present moment. Listen more intently to the people you’re with. Ask questions you feel compelled to ask. Dig into their souls a little more. Really see what’s right in front of you, not what it could look like from behind your camera lens. Breathe in the air and experience it from the inhale to the bottom of the exhale. Take the “wrong” turn, get lost, and laugh the entire way.

This weekend, I am spending time in Omaha with my family. I share the one thing I know for sure, experiences matter more, because between trying on my grandma’s pink sequin suit from the 60s and my wedding dress and helping my parents decide on their landscape plans and creating some delicious snacks before an evening out to see one of our favorite bands – and laughing through all of it – it’s all I have time for. And that decision to spend more time in those moments is okay with me.

I was tempted to write the one thing I know for sure is that “Jon Snow knows nothing” but we all know that’s not true. He’s up to something tonight beyond the wall, and I can’t wait to see it unfold after we return from our concert. It’s going to be a late night, but there’s no one I’d rather spend it with.
